Today we learned 30, 40 and 50 - trente, quarante and cinquante. That means that we can count up to 59 because the numbers all follow a pattern.
We have to remember that 21, 31, 41 and 51 all have 'et' in them because the french say twenty and one, thirty and one etc. vingt-et-un, trente-et-un. But the other numbers are just said the same way in french and english. Twenty-two - vingt-deux, twenty-three - vingt-trois. ('et' in french means 'and' in English.)
We sat in two rows beside a partner and one row whispered a number along the row like chinese whispers. Then we had to draw the number on our partner's back. Then our neighbour had to say the number in french.
We listened to Inchinnan Primary's Podcast and thought they had done very well indeed.
We also used the smartboard for mental arithmetic. We had 20 seconds to answer with our partners. We are getting better at numbers!

Wow! Only 20 seconds to answer the questions in France. You must really know your tables and your numbers well!
What a great idea for a game! Your pics look lovely - we've got a new smartboard in our area ..... but we haven't learned how to use it yet!
Do you know 34+22 in French?
in french we played chinese whispers and somebody drew the number on your back. you had to guess and say it in french if you got it right you would get a point.
Bourjour Kirklandneuk. We played the number game that you suggested. We thought it was great fun!!
Bonjour Kirklandneuk! We tried your game.It was really fun. Most of us got the numbers right but three people got it wrong.
Bonjour Kirklandneuk, we played the game were you sit in two rows. We found it very good fun. Most people got the answers right but one or two of us got it wrong.
Salut, we played your number game. It was good fun but we weren't very good at the start but we got better towards the end. Instead of just doing the tens we did numbers from 20-59 (vingt - cinquante-neuf). It was fun!
